The pattern motif in Lielvārdes type sashes changes 10-20 times, and each motif repeating itself may possibly appear in a new version. In the second half of the 19th century, in the territory of Latvia, embroidered beaded belts with a flower ornament were worn by men. They were used to girdle the long coats or fur coats. Embroidered beaded belts are associated with the fashion of higher layers of society, and they are introduced to the historic clotghing of the Latvian peasants in the late stage of traditional clothing.
